Usually I’m happy to see 20 or so hits to this blog on a normal day and kind of figured I’d get a few extras on St. Patrick’s Day because of my title, but I couldn’t believe it when I saw 99 hits on Monday night!  I know that’s a drop in the bucket for a lot of people but I was quite impressed LoL.  Next year I’ll have to be more prepared and have an Irish giveaway or something!

And I know I’m really late with this but here’s my menu plan for this week…

Monday: Corned Beef and Cabbage and Potato soup (of course!)

Tuesday: Sloppy Joes on English Muffins

Pork chops and applesauce (That’s Swell!)

Chicken Marsala

I know I’ve been slacking on the picture Saturday but I have been taking pictures…lots of them!  I just got a new camera, which I love!  I just haven’t gotten around to putting the software on my computer yet so I can upload pictures.  I got the HP R937, its got a 3.6″ viewing screen and a touch screen rather than buttons, plus its like having Photoshop right on your camera!  There’s all kinds of cool effects you can add to your photos like making it into a cartoon look or a kaliedascope, or making it look like a pencil sketch.  You can also do touch ups like if someone has a blemish on their face, and my favorite, the ‘slimming’ feature LoL!  I promise to get up some examples in by the weekend!

Ok, before I go let me give one more plug for my Movie Quote Trivia…I think there’s four left to be guessed and I added hints.  I’ll post the answers on Friday if no one’s guessed them yet.

ETA: Hmmmm, how about some hints…

So, when I first signed up for an internet connection on AOL, 12 years ago or so, the first thing that caught my eye was the Movie Quote Trivia Chat room on AOL.  My brother and I were avid fans and I remember popping in videos and jotting down quotes to use since there was no www.imdb.com at that time LoL.  I lost track of the chat room after a while but I still love trying to guess movie quotes so I was thrilled to find this meme on the Who could Ask for Anything More Blog .  So here’s my try at it…

Here are the rules:

1. Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess (if you know them all, please don’t guess every one).
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. No Googling or IMDb-ing. That’s cheating and that’s no fun.

Here are my quotes:

Hint: The star of the movie in number one was an original cast member of Saturday Night Live and left in the middle of season two.
1.  I don’t know if I oughta go sailin’ down no hill with nothin’ between the ground and my brains but a piece of government plastic.
Ok, no one got this one…its from Christmas Vacation, spoken by Cousin Eddie!
Hint: Coincidentally, the star of the movie in number two started on Saturday Night Live in the middle of season two (after the one above left).
2. We’re all very different people. We’re not Watusi, we’re not Spartans, we’re Americans. With a capital “A”, huh? And you know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We’re the underdog. We’re mutts.
My husband’s look alike…or so I’m told…this is Bill Murray from one of my faves…Stripes!
3. Well, I’m gonna get out of bed every morning… breath in and out all day long. Then, after a while I won’t have to remind myself to get out of bed every morning and breath in and out… and, then after a while, I won’t have to think about how I had it great and perfect for a while.        Sleepless in Seattle, guessed by Fort Knocks
Hint: This movie isfrom 1994 and the male and female leads also starred in a movie together in 2006.
4. Oh come on, thirty more years of this, you get a tiny pension and a cheap gold watch.
Probably my favorite action movie of all time…Speed!
5. I’m shakin’ the dust of this crummy little town off my feet and I’m gonna see the world. Italy, Greece, the Parthenon, the Colosseum. Then, I’m comin’ back here to go to college and see what they know. And then I’m gonna build things. I’m gonna build airfields, I’m gonna build skyscrapers a hundred stories high, I’m gonna build bridges a mile long…      Its a Wonderful Life, guessed by Fort Knocks
6.  A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets. But now you know there was a man named Jack Dawson and that he saved me… in every way that a person can be saved. I don’t even have a picture of him. He exists now… only in my memory.   Titanic, guessed by Staci
7. This is pure snow! Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?
Whooops!  Forgot to leave a hint for this one!  The guy who said this quote actually sent me an autograph through the mail when I was into autograph collecting!  This is from Better off Dead!
8.  Hey, how come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we’ll all get up, it’ll be anarchy.  Breakfast Club, guessed by Queen of my Domain
9. Since you’re new here, I’m gonna cut you a break… today. So, why don’t you make like a tree and get out of here?  Back to the Future, guessed by Queen of my Domain
Hint:In this movie the main star’s sister is played by his real life sister.
10. I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.    Say Anything,   guessed by Suzzcq70 from A Family Created.
Ok, so what I’m really looking forward to is someone posting a list on their blog so I can do the fun part and guess where the quotes are from :)…any takers?

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

Oops!  Should have mentioned right off the bat…Cead Mile Failte is Gaelic for One Hundred Thousand Welcomes!  I’m not from Ireland but we take our Irish Heritage very seriously.  Our big holiday is coming up on Monday and we can’t wait :)!

I’m very late arriving to the party, but 5 Minutes for Mom  is hosting the Ultimate Blog Party!  There are over a thousand links to women all over the blogosphere and lots of prizes and giveaways to be had as well (more on those later :D)  so go check it out and meet some new, fellow bloggers!

As for me, let me introduce myself…

I am Jen, mom to Abbey, my 3 1/2 year old daughter and wife to my hubby Scottie.  We live and New York and we’ve been married for over 8 years.  This blog is my spot to record the little moments I don’t want to forget, vent frustrations, post cute photos, yummy recipes, and funny little stories…mostly all geared towards Miss Abigail LoL!  Here’s a picture of Abbey and her Mamo (Irish for Grandma) I from our town’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade a couple of weeks ago (scroll down to see a pic of Abbey and I on the same day)…

And here’s my favorite party recipe to bring when I know there will be kids around…

Dirt Cake Recipe

1 16 oz package Oreo Cookies
1/2 cup (1 stick) Butter or margarine, softened
1 8oz block of cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 t vanilla
2 4 serving size boxes chocolate fudge pudding, instant
3 cups milk
1 12 oz tub whipped topping, thawed
A few gummi worms
Crush the cookies until they resemble potting soil. Set aside. Cream butter, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth, and fluffy; set aside. Combine the pudding mix and milk until well blended, then fold in the whipped topping. Gently fold the cream cheese and pudding mixtures together. To put the cake together, layer in a flower pot (about 8″ diameter) with 1/3 of the cookie crumbs followed by 1/2 the pudding mixture, 1/3 of the crumbs, the rest of the pudding mixture and topping with the remaining cookie crumbs. Refrigerate 10 to 12 hours. About 1/2 hour before serving, remove from refrigerator and decorate with flowers and gummi worms. Serve by digging out portions with a shovel.

And don’t forget about the prizes!  There are over 150 up for grabs!  My favorite three are:

The Ballerina Hairclip Holder from Nissa’s Niceties which you can find here

The  3 Books Prize from Jill Norwood at Who Could Ask For Anything More

(she has the coolest movie quote meme going on right now that I just might have to steal 🙂  )

And the Story Package from Cherish Bound

I would also love to win #’s 67, 103, 124, 102,  and 119

My brother, who sells stuff on ebay as a side business, came to Sunday dinner at Mom’s yesteday with boxes and boxes of dvds he’d gotten at an auction to re-sell on ebay.  He has so many he let us all rummage through and keep the one’s we wanted.  Going through all the titles  reminded me of something I’d been wanting to do since I saw a clip on Oscar night of all the movies that have won best picture through the years.  I thought I caught a glimpse of quite a few that I had seen so I wanted to kind of check them off on a list.  Now that I see it in black and white I’ve actually seen less than I thought, although some of these I might have seen and its just not connecting…I might have to read a synopsis or see  whose in them to jog my memory.  Anyway, I’ve bolded the one’s on the list that I’ve seen…28 so far.  Question of the Day: Anyone else seen more than that?
